Fatigue and lack of energy are common symptoms of menopause. Hormonal changes can lead to energy depletion and other issues that may affect daily life. It's essential to explore strategies and treatments to enhance energy levels and well-being during this phase.

Fatigue and lack of energy can affect someone before and after menopause.  It is common in the later phases and affects around 20% of women who are in the perimenopause phase (pre-menopausal phrase), about 45% of women going through menopause and an average of up to 85% of women who are postmenopausal.   It is also a direct result of the hormonal changes that take place during all the stages of menopause.

Furthermore, menopause itself brings about a variety of symptoms that can disrupt your sleep and energy levels. Hot flashes and night sweats are common issues that may cause frequent awakenings during the night, leading to poor sleep quality. Insomnia is another potential symptom of menopause, which can contribute to daytime fatigue and reduced alertness.

Additionally, societal pressures and traditional gender roles may exacerbate stress and tiredness for women during this stage of life. Especially since women in mid-life often juggle multiple responsibilities, such as caring for children and maintaining a career, all while navigating the physical and emotional changes associated with menopause. These combined factors can significantly impact overall well-being and energy levels.

Once again, hormonal therapy can assist with coping with the symptoms so if you are experiencing fatigue or feeling low in your energy, visit your doctor to ask about estrogen therapy, or perhaps even try some synthetic hormones to see if your symptoms improve and you and once again feel your energetic self.
